CERTIFICATION AND MEMBERSHIP IN AAMFT
Post-Graduate Program
Council for Relationships awards a Certificate of Completion to those interns who have successfully met the requirements of the program. This represents completion of all course work and supervised clinical hours required by the AAMFT and may be presented to AAMFT in partial fulfillment of requirements for Clinical Membership.
The 500 clinical hours completed during the training program is half of the 1,000 hours required by AAMFT for clinical membership. The remaining hours are typically fulfilled by clinical practice either concurrent with or upon completion of the program.
Additional Opportunities for Learning and Training
In addition to our required training curriculum and clinical practice opportunities, we offer a variety of optional training experiences for all interns:
- Psycho-educational Courses. CFR's ongoing psycho-educational courses which are offered to the public, include: Couples Communication, Relationship Skills, Teen Skills, Co-Parenting, Anger Management, Sexual Enrichment, Courage to Grieve, Chronic Illness and Support Groups. Some opportunities to observe and participate are available.
- Sexual Enrichment Programs. Interns are able to participate in a one-day sexual enrichment program to help sensitize and heighten personal awareness about the therapeutic process of sex therapy.
- Research. Interns may become involved in available projects ranging from outcome and process studies of systemic therapy to clinical case studies. Many of our interns are published in leading journals.
- Conferences. CFR's popular annual Couples Conference and Clergy Conference attract the regional community of professionals in our field, and focus on relevant, timely topics. Interns are always invited to attend and participate.
- Speakers. There is ample opportunity to see and hear CFR staff in action in a variety of community outreach and public speaking engagements, as well as develop speaking platforms of your own.
- Library. CFR maintains an extensive library of books, journals and videotapes, which are available to all interns during their training.
