Dorothy A. Thomas, MS, LMFT

Staff Therapist, University City office
215-382-6680 ext. 4234

Dorothy Thomas, MS, LMFT Dorothy A. Thomas received her Master of Science degree in Christian Counseling from Philadelphia Biblical University and her post-graduate certification from Council for Relationships. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Pennsylvania.

She says, “Helping heal the brokenhearted is my satisfaction and I believe that is what I am called to do. Working to bring more honesty and peace to fractured families, I have special interests in the grief of divorce, caring for aging parents, menopause issues, mid-life crises, and parenting issues. It is remarkable how one can feel completely lonely in a house full of family but fear of intimacy from the residual pain of past relationships often leads to isolating behaviors, self-neglect and even drug use. My clients continue to teach me more than I could imagine about the resiliency of the human spirit in the midst of confusion and pain as well as our incredible capacity for productive change. Seeing individuals and families transform the way they operate in the world refreshes my soul and allows me to share in the hope they develop. I am always learning new ways to speak the truth in love.”

A facilitator for recovery groups and parenting support groups, Dorothy has taught and supervised graduate students at PBU and CFR. She is a clinical member of the AAMFT and the AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors).
