Jennifer Sparks, PhDJennifer Sparks, PhD, received her Masters of Education in Addiction and Transpersonal Psychology from the College of William & Mary, and her Doctoral degree in Human Development emphasizing Marriage and Family Therapy from Virginia Tech. Jen has specialty training in Hypnosis and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), as well as Rape Crisis. She is also an associate member of AAMFT.

Jen began her 15-year career at The Meadows treatment facility in Wickenburg, AZ, as the co-creator and facilitator of their in- and outpatient Eating Disorders program. Jen has worked for several non-profit agencies in couples and family therapy, sexual assault and childhood abuse. In addition, Jen spent five years as an adjunct professor at The College of New Jersey teaching such courses as; Treating Trauma & PTSD, Couples Counseling, Theories in Marriage and Family Therapy, Multicultural Counseling, The Family Life-cycle, Human Development Across the Lifespan, and supervising Ed.S. Students in their first couple/family clinical placements.

EMDR is Jen’s specialty, in particular, the use of EMDR in healing trauma, attachment wounds and illnesses complicated by emotional and physical stress for both individuals and couples. Jen has published several scholarly articles in the use of EMDR and its ability to help heal the wounds that interfere in the progression of healthy, intimate relationships. Jen’s interests also include women’s issues, couples and individuals preparing for parenthood, and the struggles of honoring the couple through the trials of parenting. Jen is passionate about the therapeutic process and its ability to transform people’s lives and the environment that surrounds them.
