Judith Leist, MD, MS, MFT

Dr.
Leist works with couples, families and individuals struggling
with relationship conflicts, parenting issues, chronic illness,
depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and attachment issues. She
draws on her medical background to help people deal with the psychological
and emotional consequences of chronic and life-threatening conditions,
such as multiple sclerosis, cancer, HIV and others.
She enjoys helping pre-adolescents and adolescents build healthy self esteem, learn problem solving skills and assertiveness. Others areas of clinical interest and focus are inter-racial and inter-ethnic/cultural marriage, bi- and multi-racial identity. She also has experience helping clients cope with the emotional consequences and distress associated with migration, relocation and acculturation. Her treatment strategies are tailored to each client's needs using mainly family system, cognitive behavior therapy and emotion focus approaches. She also provides stress management through progressive relaxation and meditation. Therapy sessions can be conducted in English or in French.
Dr. Judith Leist earned her Masters degree in Counseling Psychology at Villanova University and did her Post-Masters training in Couples and Family Therapy at Council for Relationships, after completing a Medical Degree and training in Pediatrics at the State University and General Hospital in Haiti and a fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Miami.
