Dr. Hannah Kliger is an experienced educator, researcher, and
speaker on issues related to communication and identity, and is
committed to working with individuals, couples, and family members
to better comprehend their inner lives, enrich their connections
with others, and feel more satisfied in their personal relationships
as well as in work-related settings. Her approach is influenced
by her training, teaching, and scholarship for over twenty-five
years in understanding communication processes in relationships.
Dr. Kliger concentrates her practice on helping clients:
- improve their communication skills;
- survive and thrive after trauma;
- deal with depression and anxiety;
- adjust to difficult life cycle transitions;
- handle the impact of financial stress on family dynamics;
- meet the challenges of career growth and development.
In addressing these issues, Dr. Kliger is equally comfortable navigating with clients their current day concerns and challenges, while also working 'below the surface' to explore personal and family factors that influence their capacity to feel more authentic and valued. Her clinical approach integrates multiple perspectives, and she has worked successfully with men and women, couples and families, as well as groups representing diverse populations and professional commitments.
Dr. Kliger earned her doctorate in communication from the University of Pennsylvania and received her Masters degree in clinical social work from Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. She holds a certificate in psychodynamic psychotherapy from the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia, and has completed post-graduate coursework in couples and family therapy at the Council for Relationships. Dr. Kliger is also a research associate for CFR's Transcending Trauma project, which examines resilience and reconstruction in the aftermath of traumatic events.
