Ruthy
Kaiser is a staff therapist working with individuals, couples
and families in the Wynnewood, Bryn Mawr and Center City offices.
Ruthy’s belief is that life is all about relationships;
whether with your significant other, friend, business partner,
family member or the often-neglected relationship we all need
to take time to cultivate and nurture - the one with our own self.
Ruthy is committed to working with individuals alone or in relationships as they look for personal growth and insight, or those who may be on a spiritual quest seeking a safe place to explore issues such as the meaning of life or finding one’s higher purpose. Exploration of patterns of intimacy, commitment and communication are additional areas of expertise. A key component of therapy is the creation and maintenance of a supportive atmosphere in which the individual or the couple feel free to examine their deepest issues.
Ruthy is skilled in helping clients navigate their way through issues surrounding separation, divorce, co-parenting and blended families.
Drawing on her background as a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting, where she worked with cancer patients for 5 years, Ruthy brings an added dimension to her work with clients who may be dealing with serious illness, from time of initial diagnosis through treatment and extending to end of life care, both for the patient as well as the family.
Issues of grief and loss at any stage of life are incredibly challenging. Dealing with them, in the safety and caring of someone who has traveled the road both personally and professionally, can be a transformative and healing experience. Clients dealing with grief and loss are unique, their thinking/feeling is unique, and their therapy should be unique.
Ruthy has been a practitioner of Yoga and Meditation for 20 years and draws upon her experience as both a student and teacher of these practices to integrate mindfulness into her therapy sessions whether as a tool in stress management, anxiety reduction or simply another method of learning how to work with one’s thoughts and emotions. If desired, meditation instruction can be a part of the therapy process, again either as a means of relaxation, or when studied and practiced in greater depth, a vehicle for exploring more deeply one’s patterns of thought, emotion and resulting behavior. Ruthy’s therapeutic style is similar to mindfulness-based cognitive therapy.
Ruthy earned a Registered Nurse degree R.N. in Toronto, Canada, and her Masters in Family Therapy from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. She is an associate member of A.A.M.F.T.
Having worked in television and radio, Ruthy is a skilled and dynamic presenter and enjoys leading workshops, seminars and groups.
