Joshua Green, MD, PhD
Psychiatrist, Center City, Philadelphia, PA Office215-552-8917
Dr. Joshua Green is interested in the thoughtful integration of
medication and psychotherapy in addressing emotional suffering.
He believes in using medication in the service of psychological
growth and balances the goal of symptom relief with the perspective
that symptoms often stem from unresolved emotional issues. His
approach to psychotherapy is experiential and psychodynamic. Experiential
approaches assert that emotional matters must be experienced and
resolved in the heart more than in the head. The psychodynamic
tradition emphasizes such priorities as identifying and relinquishing
defensive patterns, increasing our tolerance of difficult emotions,
and healing from destructive experiences during our upbringing.
Dr. Green also uses hypnosis, guided visualization, and meditative
techniques where appropriate for a patient’s goals and needs.
Dr. Green is available for individual psychotherapy with or without medication management, medication management for patients already in psychotherapy, and consultations.
Dr. Green completed his medical training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and his psychiatric residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital where he received awards for excellent care of psychiatric outpatients and for scholarly writing. He also has received a PhD in Neural Science from New York University where he studied auditory physiology.
Dr. Joshua Green can be reached at 215-552-8917.
