Sara J. Corse, PhD

Dr.
Sara J. Corse is the Director of the University City Office of
CFR. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and member of the
American Psychological Association, with over 20 years of experience
working with individuals, couples and organizations. Her areas
of expertise include depression and anxiety, grief and loss, workplace
relationships and work-life balance. As a relationship expert,
she helps couples improve communication and intimacy, address
conflict and increase parenting effectiveness with children from
birth to college-age.
A 1987 graduate of the Clinical/Community Psychology program at
the University of Maryland, Dr. Corse began her career as a clinical
research faculty at the University of Pennsylvania. She conducted
research on the effectiveness of various treatments for mental
illness and substance abuse. She maintained a busy practice before
coming to the Council in January of 2006.
Dr. Corse is the author of "Cradled
All the While: The Unexpected Gifts of a Mother's Death".
Dr. Marianne Celano of Emory University writes in her endorsement
of this book: "[it] is about the redemptive and transformative
power of caring for a dying parent, leaving the reader feeling
hopeful and inspired. This book is for anyone with a disappointing
relationship with a parent who has died or is dying, and for everyone
who seeks grace and healing in their relationships throughout
life."
Dr. Corse presents seminars and workshops at a variety of for-profit
and non-profit organizations on such topics as work-life balance
through the family life-cycle, loss and grief, and emotional and
spiritual issues in caring for the dying and grieving. Dr. Corse
