Could your Relationship use a Checkup?
Irina Baranov
October 10, 2011
Couples therapy isn't for everyone. You read that right. The folks who come to us for counseling are brave, and strong and prepared to work hard to improve their relationships. They're like star athletes. They put in the necessary work to improve, week after week, day after day. But not everyone can or even wants to be a star athlete. Some people want to just eat a little better, exercise a little more and stay in reasonably good shape. That quest often starts with an annual visit to their physician for a checkup, where they learn about their weight, blood pressure, cholesterol and other risk factors. Then they craft a health plan that allows them to live a healthier life.
If taking good care of your body (or car or finances) starts with an accurate assessment, the same can be said of relationships. Very few of us ever receive any kind of relationship education. We do the best we can, of course, but inevitably life happens.. people grow apart, their defenses get in the way of closeness, their histories impact their present interactions and often much too much time passes before couples seek help.
An easy and simple way to prevent heartache is to keep your relationship in check, just as you would your body, your finances or your car. Understand where things stand as honestly and completely as possible, and then decide on a course of action that makes sense - whether you want to be a "star athlete" in your relationship or just reasonably healthy.
With CFR's Relationship Checkup, you'll experience a 3-session program, where you'll meet with a therapist, take an online assessment, receive feedback and develop a roadmap for the future. This program will enable couples to:
- Explore strength and growth areas
- Strengthen communication skills
- Identify and manage major stressors
- Explore family-of-origin issues
- Resolve conflict
- Develop a more balanced relationship
We're so committed to healthy relationships and making the Relationship Checkup available to everyone, that we've priced the entire 3 session program at a low $99! To learn more, please visit the Relationship Checkup page of our website or call our Client Care office at 215-382-6680 x1.
